Some Plateau-Mont-Royal residents have been dealing with frozen pipes and no water while crews have been working on their street - a job they say should have wrapped up before the arctic cold set in.
Patrick Visentine, his spouse and their three kids - aged 16,14 and 9 - had to deal with no running water during a normal busy morning.
"At 2:30 in the morning I found out the hose was frozen," said Visentine who told his story via yourstory@cjad.com.
That hose was put in on Jeanne Mance by contractors to hook up the water supply. The project began in August on the stretch between Mont Royal and Villeneuve but some of the work only recently started. Visentine said the contractor advised them to keep their taps running to avoid having the pipes freeze.

"I called the city and let the city know and I called 311 and the only response they gave me was to say that, oh well, it's not our issue, it's the issue of the contractor," said Visentine.
And Visentine said the contractor told him that there was nothing they could do about it until later in the morning at around 10 a.m.
"They could have avoided this had they stopped and closed up shop much earlier," said Visentine.
His neighbours were without water for six or seven hours in the day earlier this week as well.
"Basic services like this, it's not something the city should be dropping the ball with," said Visentine.
The city is looking into the situation.
