UPDATE: Teen didn't have to go home from school because of unpaid school fees: school board
It's back to school time but a 16 year old Montreal boy had to spend his first day back at school with his grandmother, after his LaSalle high school refused to let him in.
Felicia spoke with CJAD 800's Aaron Rand Show and says her grandson was turned away from Cavelier-De LaSalle high school because of unpaid school fees.
She says her daughter, the teen's mother, was told to pay her bill, amounting to a whopping $1300.00 and says she was told that until the fees are paid, the teen won't be allowed to attend classes.
Felicia says her grandson isn't the only one who was denied access Wednesday morning.
"People had to resort to taking out their bank cards or VISA cards to pay before they could enter the school," she says.
The school isn't commenting, referring CJAD 800 to the Commission Scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys.
The board didn't return our calls.
