A LegerJournal de Montreal survey says 4 in 10 women have experienced sexual harassment or sexual violence.

A Léger-Journal de Montréal survey says 4 in 10 women have experienced sexual harassment or sexual violence.

According to the poll, 40 percent of incidents took place at home, 38 percent occured at work, while 31 percent of sexual harassment cases occur on the bus or in the metro.

Meantime, more than two dozen investigators have been taking dozens calls on the Montreal police hotline for sexual misconduct complaints.

The hotline was set up Thursday and has already received  more than 50 calls.

Authorities said the hotline should be for on-island incidents only.

They added anything off island should be reported to local police or the SQ.

The provincial police number is 1-800-659-4264.

The temporary Montreal line, which is not in service during the wekend, is 280-2079.

Montreal police chief Philippe Pichet said some files have been opened as a result of calls.

The hotline was launched after allegations of sexual misconduct against TV/Radio personality Eric Salvail and Just For Laughs founder Gilbert Rozon.

An update on the amount calls to the Montreal line is expected next week.
