Montreal's Auditor General is looking into the non-profit group that oversees the city's Formula E race.
Namely, Michèle Galipeau's office to see the contract that was awarded by Montréal c'est électrique to promoter Evenko.
In November, the Journal de Montreal reported the head of the non-profit organization, Sylvain Vincent, awarded the contract for the Formula E race to Evenko without a call for tenders.
Vincent also merged his own foundation with that of Evenko's last year, a few months before the contract was awarded.
Vincent sits on The Evenko Foundation's board of directors, along with Evenko President Jacques Aubé and Andrew Molson, co-owner of the Montreal Canadiens—which owns Evenko.
Montréal c'est électrique is also reportedly heavily in debt.
Earlier this week, Radio-Canada reported the group, created by the city in Fall 2016 to oversee the electric car races from 2016 through 2018, owes millions of dollars to the Formula E racing body: the FIA Formula E Championship.
