Just about all of your friends reacted on social media to the news that Donald Trump will become the 45th president of the United States in the hours following the close of the polls — and, of course, that included just about any celebrity you can think of.
Montreal's mayor Denis Coderre, for instance, was among the many Canadians who suggested disaffected anti-Trumpites would be welcome to make the move north.
"Please take note: our Bureau of Integration of New Arrivals in Montreal will be open exceptionally after the American vote," Coderre tweeted in French.
"Let's face the facts; the world has changed today as we wake up to an unimaginable outcome," tweeted another famous Montrealer, William Shatner.
Meanwhile, British comic Ricky Gervais came up with another Canadian-themed tweet: "Canada has just started building a wall."
"I need to wake up early and buy tons of stock in a wall building company! And logs! And metal! And levelers!'' wrote movie director Judd Apatow in another wall-themed tweet.
Many others expressed disgust.
"Anyone else wanna puke?" wrote Kristen Bell.
Legendary singer and ardent Hillary Clinton supporter Cher, meantime, insists now on using the toilet emoji in place of Donald Trump's name in everything she tweets.
"world will never be the same," she wrote. "I feel Sad for the young. [Toilet emoji] will never be more than the toilet, I’ve used as a symbol 4 Him. U Can’t Polish [poop emoji]"
Trump supporters, meanwhile, were out in force.
"Great faith in God works," tweeted Scott Baio, who played Chachi on the 70s sitcome Happy Days. "Mr. @realDonaldTrump I'm proud to call you President of the United States of America. And First Lady @melaniatrump.''
"Our President-elect gave a gracious acceptance speech this AM, making clear what a great leader he will be. It is morning in America again!'' wrote actor James Woods.
"CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT TRUMP! @realDonaldTrump against all odds ..against the establishment and even against most from the GOP..U did it!" was Kirstie Alley's reaction.
And action star Steven Seagal tweeted: "Congratulations @realDonaldTrump for your stunning victory over your opponent! Looking forward to making AMERICA great again!"
The anti-Trump comics, meantime, tried to put a brave face on the turn of events.
"We survived 8 years of Bush. We can survive 2 and a half years of Trump. Laugh at the darkness and go easy on yourselves, okay?'' wrote Comedian Patton Oswalt.
"At least pot's legal," wrote Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, in response to three more states voting to legalize recreational marijuana last night — California, Nevada and Massachusetts.
