Environment Canada is warning Montrealers of the possibility of up to 25cm of snow this weekend — as well as frigid cold weather.
"The best piece of advice from the city, is to consider moving with the public transit on Sunday," said city spokesman, Phillipe Sabourin.
He added that due to road conditions and the extreme weather, people should consider using the metro and the city's bus service instead of driving.
He warns that if you do have to take your own vehicle, to slow down and drive carefully.
"The City of Montreal is [plowing] the city's sidewalks and streets," Sabourin said.
"We have something like 1,000 trucks on the roads," Sabourin added. "They'll continue to plow the snow and spreading salt on the street until the end of precipitation."
He told CJAD 800 that the city will need an additional eight hours after the snow storm to fully clear side streets and less busy roadways.
