If you've been hoping City of Montreal snow removal crews will be around soon to take away the snow and ice from your street or sidewalks, you're going to end up waiting until the next big snowfall.
The City has decided to skip the job and let Mother Nature do the heavy-lifting, as warmer weather settles in over Montreal for the next few days.
Currently, pavement around the city is "swollen" because of the amount of water that has infiltrated into the ground through cracks during the recent freeze-and-thaw cycles. The City says that using machinery to remove the ice could damage the asphalt even further and leave more potholes for motorists and cyclists to contend with.
