The city wants to collect and recycle your Christmas tree to generate energy.
Collection will run for two weeks, starting on January 2.
"This year, the city expected to collect as much as 25,000 Christmas trees, "said City of Montreal Spokesman, Philippe Sabourin.
"That's the equivalent of 350 tonnes of Christmas trees."
The city plans to recycle the trees it collects.
"We will transform your Christmas tree into wood chips that are used to generate energy by replacing heavy oil in different industries," Sabourin said.
To have your Christmas tree picked up, remove all ornaments from it, then place it on your curb by 7 a.m. on the day the city visits your borough to pick it up.
Artificial trees will not be collected, Sabourin said those can either be reused for the following year(s) or be thrown out in the trash instead.
To find out the collection schedule per borough you can call 311, or visit their website.
