The next 72 hours will be interesting in Montreal, weatherwise.
Monday began with windchill values approaching -30. By afternoon, we're expecting snow and a high of -10.
By Tuesday, a low pressure system blowing in from Colorado will lead to moderating temperatures, but we'll also see five to 10 centimetres of snow — blown around by wind gusts of up to 60 kilometres an hour.
Tuesday's high will be -4, but then, temperatures will be on the rise.
The snow is expected to change over to rain Tuesday evening — and quite possibly, freezing rain.
A special weather statement from Environment Canada warns the blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility and make travel difficult throughout southwestern Quebec on Tuesday.
By Wednesday, however, temperatures are expected to rise well above freezing, as the rain continues — a high of 5 degrees on Wednesday, and 7 degrees on Thursday.
The normal high for this time of year in Montreal is -6.
By the weekend, sunshine will return, and temperatures are expected to settle back down to normal values.
