A software development company has decided to move away from their old location near the Turcot Interchange and Mercier Bridge so its employees no longer have to deal with driving through massive amounts of traffic.
After the software developer for non-profit organizations made the move from Clement Ave. in Lasalle to Ste. Anne de Bellevue this May Silent Partner Software's employees saw their commute time cut in half
"One of our employees lives in Ill-Perrot, it takes him ten minutes to get to work, whereas before it used to take him 45 minutes to an hour," said Manager Bradley Olstoorn. "It was becoming quite a pain just to get where we wanted to get, especially in Lasalle, there's endless amounts of traffic and there's really only two or three arteries in and out of it. It just became an ongoing hassle."
"I don't sit in traffic anymore, it's just a clear sailing all the way in."
Since many of his employees come from the West Island more have decided to start riding their bikes to get to work at the western tip of the island.
"We installed a shower so a number of our people who come in can shower before they start work, so many have been taking advantage of that," he said. "We're trying to get a few more people to bike in, it is a bit of a lifestyle change so they just have to warm up to the idea a little bit more."
The view by the St. Lawrence River is also a perk he said.
"A number of us have taken to going for walks during lunch," Olstoorn said. "So overall it's been a very positive and healthy move."
