Firefighters on the South Shore spent several hours battling a blaze that tore through a 24-unit apartment building Monday evening.
The five-alarm fire broke out on the top floor of the building on Elie Ave. and quickly spread, huge flames left gaping holes in the roof.
Firefighters from Montreal, Chambly and La Prairie were called in to help battle the blaze as cold temperatures, which hit about -24°C at the fires peak, made the fight difficult.
