Quebec's left-wing party is counting on people taking the Quebec Solidaire Challenge this coming fall.
The party unveiled a new logo over the weekend — one that, for the first time, incorporates blue into its traditionally all-orange color scheme.
"Today, we are modernizing our visual identity to reflect the coming together with progressive sovereignists, which was achieved in December with the merger of Quebec Solidaire and Option Nationale," MNA Manon Massé is quoted as saying in a statement.
The logo is a variation of their old juggling figure logo, but many on social media have noted its striking similarity to Tide Pods, the infamous laundry detergent packages that some teenagers have started biting into as part of an online stunt.
"Quebec Solidaire has a new logo that looks EXACTLY like a Tide Pod," wrote one Twitter user named @ChloeAmagi. "The jokes write themselves."
"The difference between Quebec Solidaire's logo and a Tide Pod? None! Both are indigestible," wrote @Mike_Tremblay.
The party, meanwhile, has decided to own the joke — poking fun at the online reaction hours after the big reveal.
"Tide is already selling promotional products derived from our new logo" the party wrote on Facebook late Sunday. "Very useful for washing dirty things...like a corrupt government! Warning: do not eat."
Quebec Solidaire has three MNAs in the National Assembly, and has high hopes of adding a few more when election day rolls around on Oct. 1.
