Education Ministry considering social media monitoring to prevent cheating
In an effort to counter cheating during high school final exams, the Quebec Education Ministry has put out feelers searching for a company to monitor social media networks.
Last spring a portion of the Grade 10 final exam was cancelled after an essay question, worth 25% of the final mark, was leaked and posted on Facebook.
In response, the government set up a working group to study ways to increase exam security.
The Journal de Montreal says the government has issued a non-binding request for interested companies to come forward as a preliminary step in determining costs and a mandate.
