Quebec government engineers are threatening to make use of the strike mandate they acquired in June.
The head of the association representing the engineers, Marc-Andre Martin, says unless stalled talks move foward, the 2017 road construction season could get even more difficult.
Of the 1400 engineers, 800 are employed by the Transport ministry.
The engineers have been without a contract since March 2015.
They've been refusing to do overtime.
Martin says the two sides are light years apart on the main issues including salaries.
Quebec government engineers last walked off the job in 1966.
