A fire drill in minus 10 degree weather?
Not quite.
A concerned parent reached out to CJAD 800 News wondering why students in T-shirts were sent out into the cold yesterday during a fire drill at Terry Fox Elementary School in Laval.
The Sir Wilfred Laurier School Board is reassuring parents that yesterday's fire alarm was not a drill though it was a false alarm.
The board said firefighters discovered that someone pulled the alarm intentionally.
Students and staff were outside for about five minutes before they were able to go back in the school.
The board said their aim is to get everybody out quickly and safely- false alarm or not.
In a real emergency during bad weather, students can be sheltered in a neighbouring building.
A memo has been sent to parents explaining the situation and the principal will be addressing students about the dangers of triggering the fire alarm when there's no emergency.
