A man from Baie-Comeau was arrested on Highway 40 in Neuville, west of Quebec City, early Saturday.
Police stopped the 28-year-old man while he was driving west on the eastbound side of the highway at 3:00 A.M.
After approaching the vehicle the officers noticed there was an infant in the backseat.
A provincial police spokesperson said the man was later tested and found to have a blood alcohol level that was more than double the legal limit.
The man was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date, where he will face multiple charges.
