A four-alarm fire ignited in a large commercial building in Westmount home to a spa, fitness club and two restaurants owned by a tv-famous chef on Sunday evening.
Flames broke out just after 6 p.m., according to Martin Farmer, Chief of Operations with the Montreal fire department.
All five businesses on the first floor of the converted parking garage and the offices on the floors above were evacuated safely with no injuries, he added.
Among the tenants in the building are the Victoria Park Health Club and two restaurants belonging to Antonio Park, a judge on last season's of Chopped Canada on the Food Network.
At 9:20 p.m. Westmount Security tweeted the fire was under control. but because of the building size it will take several hours to ventilate, Farmer told CJAD 800 News.
Victoria Ave. remains closed between Sherbrooke St. and Somerville Ave. while the fire is contained.
A cause for the blaze is not yet known.
