Firefighters finally gained the upper hand battling a general alarm fire in Pierrefonds more than 12 hours after it erupted.
Flames broke out around midnight Saturday night at a 2-story residential-commercial structure at 14360 Gouin Blvd. leaving four people homeless.
There were no injuries reported and no cause had yet been determined.
Chief of operations Benoit Martel said the intense cold severely affected equipment and personnel.
"We had around 125 firemen on the scene, between 25 and 30 trucks", added Martel.
