The Association des propriétaires d'appartement du grand Montréal wants landlords to get tough on tenants who smoke marijuana in their units.
The group wants clauses put in leases prohibiting recreational marijuana use. It says the federal government's plan to legalize marijuana is only going to make things worse by adding to second-hand smoke already a problem in many buildings.
The group is justifying their position by citing article 1854 of the Civil Code of Quebec, which states landlords must provide all tenants a peaceful living environment.
