Montreal police are investigating after a domestic weekend fire in east end Rivieres des Prairies involving a handicapped woman.
The 39-year-old woman, who's intellectually handicapped, remained in critical condition in hospital.
The blaze, said to be electrical in origin, began in the kitchen of the semi-detached cottage on Louis Jobin Avenue.
The victim was found unconscious upstairs.
The case has been transferred to the police department for investigation because an injury is involved.
It seems a smoke detector in the home wasn't working when the fire broke out.
