Snow and freezing rain collecting on branches and roads caused challenges for public infrastructure agencies over Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
At the peak of the damage nearly 68000 Hydro Quebec customers were without power, hit hardest were households in the Laurentians and Outaouais regions.
Montreal was largely spared, with about 1500 customers out of power briefly Tuesday, by Wednesday morning only 100 households were in the dark.
Hydro Quebec spokesperson Geneviève Chouinard says repair crews were dispatched to remedy the outages as quickly as possible.
"Some clients were restored during the night, we have crews that work all night long," says Chouinard. "About 150 crews that came to help their colleagues this morning but because of the snowfall warning with high winds today it could be a little longer."
The weather threw a wrench in the path of many flights at the Trudeau airport with the bulk of arriving and departing flights delayed Wednesday morning.
Transport Quebec tweeted over 30 incidents on Wednesday morning, most related to challenging driving conditions like poor visibility, hydroplaning, and slushy, icy roads.
Public transport did fare well regardless of the weather, with the AMT running normally, and only a slight delay on the Orange Line on Wednesday morning for a blocked metro door.
