The Parti Quebecois' party rivals want an investigation following a newspaper report the PQ is paying some staffers who organize partisan events with public money.
The CAQ, for one, said under National Assembly rules, those staffers should be paid from party coffers.
To be paid from a National Assembly budget, staffers must work largely on policy issues, instead of partisan campaigns.
"We applied the rules and we constantly verify. Weekly, we verify points that are in gray areas,” said PQ leader Jean-Francois Lisee. “They have to work with the people. They have to go in their regions. They have to help the party connect with citizens. I don't want to see them in the National Assembly”, said PQ leader Jean-Francois Lisée.
He added the timing of the allegations suggests the other parties are worried about the PQ's momenteum.
