Former construction bigwig Tony Accurso has been sentenced to four years in jail.
The Crown had argued that Accurso deserved five years behind bars for profiting from rigged contracting in Laval for more than a decade.
He'd been found guilty of five counts of fraud and corruption.
Although the judge is sending the businessman to jail, he is not obliging him to pay any damages to the City of Laval, which overpaid for municipal works because of the collusion.
The Crown has estimated the city's overpayments at $1.6 million at minimum.
