A stolen iPad offered to Mark Lafleur as a gift may have led to his arrest this week.
The Journal de Montreal spoke with the son of Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur, who claims he had no idea the tablet had been stolen.
The 32 year old was arrested in Blainville on Wednesday along with three other individuals in connection with a series of recent break-ins in and around Montreal. But court documents released Friday indicate Lafleur has only been charged with receiving stolen goods and his attorneys underline those documents show nothing of Lafleur being involved with the break-ins.
Lafleur has been released from police custody but will appear in court at the end of February. The three other men have been charged with breaking and entering and are expected to be back in court on Monday.
According to the Journal, one of the other three individuals arrested Wednesday gave Lafleur the iPad as a thank-you for getting him hockey tickets.
