Blue-collar workers in Laval have voted in favour of ratifying the agreement-in-principle reached recently between their union and the city.
"We are pleased that the negotiation process has been successful," said Laval Mayor Mayor Demers. "The City has always kept focus on the importance of improving the level of service to Laval residents, while also respecting taxpayers' ability to pay."
The agreement lasts until 2022. The roughly 700 blue collars employed in Laval had been without a contract since 2016.
What's in the new deal remains to be seen, as the city and the blue collar union will not reveal details until the agreement is made official by city council in the coming days.
Workers had staged two labour stoppages during recent months as negotiations stalled.
