A Laval seniors residence that's been hit by multiple allegations of ill-treatment of its residents got a surprise visit and inspection by Quebec's Minister for Seniors on Friday.
The facility's executive director admits they're "not perfect," but added he is convinced that they "are not that bad" either.
Alain Fafard's "Eden de Laval" facility has been the subject of several reports and criticism, some just this past week.
The "Journal de Montreal" reports that the centre's management was not warned about the visit by Minister Marguerite Blais.
A quick scan of its Facebook page shows a string of negative reviews and comments about the poor treatment of residents at the Laval facility. The complaints go back for at least a year.
When asked by the Minister what the C-A-Q government could do to help, Fafard said underfunding was preventing him from offering high enough wages to make his institution competitive with others in the province.
