102 of the 103 elected officials at the city of Montreal were sworn in during Thursday's ceremony at Bonsecours Market — including new mayor Valerie Plante.
The only one missing was the borough councillor for Pointe-aux-Prairies, in the Riviere-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles borough.
That's because a recount was taking place.
On the night of Nov. 5, Projet Montréal's Lisa Christensen — host of the CJAD 800 Car Show — was declared the winner by just 32 votes over Team Coderre's Manuel Guedes.
About 400 of the more than 13,000 ballots cast were rejected.
Guedes asked for a recount, and a bailiff knocked on Christensen's door late last week to inform her the election was being contested.
The recount took place at Quebec Court on Thursday, with Christensen declared the winner by 30 votes. She's expected to be sworn in this coming Monday.
"I just felt like I was in a constant holding pattern, like an airplane overhead, waiting to land," she says. "Now that the results are in, I'm really excited to go ahead and get involved in the job that I was elected to do."
She'll be back on CJAD 800 on Saturday morning, in her usual 10 a.m. slot, to talk about cars.
