A man at a warehouse in Ahuntsic-Cartierville had to be rushed to hospital Friday evening after at least one countertop slab of marble came crashing down on him, leaving him with severe injuries, according to paramedics.
The 911 call came in just before 8:15 p.m., according to François Labelle of Urgences-santé. The man was found at the commercial building on Clark St. near Sauvé St. with extensive injuries to his legs from the impact of the falling rock.
The slabs of marble were of unknown exact size, but were large enough for their intended use as a kitchen or bathroom countertop, according to Labelle.
They reportedly fell from a transport truck.
The man was rushed to hospital, Labelle confirmed, and was conscious at time of transport.
While unable to get an update on his condition, Labelle did say Urgences-santé did not consider the injuries life-threatening.
