More than 2.2 million Quebecers will have a few extra bucks in their pockets this year. As of today, the province is reducing the maximum amount Quebecers will have to pay for the public drug insurance plan.
It's only the second time the maximum premium has seen a reduction since the plan began in 1997.
The 7.7% decrease lowers the maximum amount Quebecers will have to pay towards their medications from $ 667 to $ 616 per year.
Health Minister Gaétan Barrette says the reduction is being made possible through new agreements with drug companies.
