A member of the Montreal Hells Angels has died. Obituaries for Benoit Charron say he passed away last week in Lachute on December 24.
Charron, nicknamed Brutus, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in August 2013 after being arrested as part of Operation SharQc, a massive sweep by provincial police in 2009 that netted the arrests of 156 people including 111 members of the Hells Angels.
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison, but only had to serve four because of time served while in custody. He didn't finish his sentence and was released on parole in 2015.
At the time, the parole board noted Charron "does not seem to have any intention to change his lifestyle, that he has not expressed any intention to dissociate himself from the Hells Angels."
Charron leaves behind two children, one godchild and his wife, Patricia.
A visitation has been scheduled for friends and family on January 6 at the Hotel de la Rive in Sorel-Tracy.
