Montreal police say they're putting an end to its special hotline for those wishing to report sex crimes after three weeks.
The force says since it was put in place on Oct. 19, 463 people called in to file complaints — of those, 98 of them resulted in case files being opened by investigators.
The line was opened in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal in Hollywood, and similar scandals involving prominent Quebecers, including radio and TV personality Éric Salvail and Just for Laughs founder GIlbert Rozon.
The force reports a sharp drop in the number of calls to the line in the past week, but continues to urge victims of sexual assault to report the incidents to police.
