Croatia stunned England on Wednesday in World Cup semi final action, 2-1 in added time.
Montreal Croatians celebrated their victory Balkan style.
Gathered outside Montreal's Croatian Church on de la Savane in Snowdon, they were chanting, screaming, and drinking hard liquor to Croatian music, even offering strangers who passed by celebration shots.
Younger or older, expats were very happy their country made it to the finals.
Ana Maria Rapovic expressed her sentiments of joy to CJAD 800.
"We feel amazing, we're such a small country and we're so proud to be in the World Cup and among the finalists" said the young supporter.
Ivan Duvnjak said he is happy his small country of only 4 and a half million people was able to make it to the World Cup finals, which he deems the biggest sporting event in the world. The victory brought him a sentiment of pride and achievement.
"I am a proud Canadian, I am a proud Quebecer, but I am also a proud Croatian", he said.
Rafaela Arapovic said she even convinced her colleagues at work to cheer for her team.
She said the victory still feels unreal to her.
"Everybody at my work didn't believe that we would win and by the end they were all cheering for Croatia, it feels unreal", Arapovic said.
Croatians plan a big party at their church on Sunday.
Supporters told CJAD 800 News they are planning a big party in the backyard with local food and drinks.
This is the first time in history Croatia has made it to the World Cup final.
In 1998, Croatia lost 2-1 to France in semi final action.
That year, France won the World Cup beating Brazil.
Croatia may get its revenge 20 years later on Sunday.
Igor Mihajkovic said he hopes they do.
He insisted he will really party on Sunday, if Croatia wins.
"If we win, I will get drunk, I will hug my son, I will hug my family, I will hug my friends and we are gonna be unbelievable" he said.
