The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has named Montrealer Corey Hart as the 2019 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
56-year old Hart has sold over 16 million albums worldwide, beginning with his 1983 release First Offense. Two songs from that album made it onto into Billboard's Top 20, "Sunglasses at Night" and "It Ain't Enough."
Hart says he is deeply humbled by his nomination.
"It's an incredible honour to be acknowledged alongside so many other talented and venerable Canadian artists," he says. "It's even more symbolic to receive this recognition as I release my first collection of new studio music and prepare to embark on my first national Canadian tour in over 20 years."
Hart will be officially inducted into the Hall during The 2019 JUNO Awards on Sunday, March 17.
