If you think Montreal roads are already in bad shape, this winter looks like it's going to make the problem even worse.
Typically the city sends its pothole repair crews in the spring when temperatures warm up, but this winter we've seen such drastic swings in temperatures the work is already underway.
Temporary patches were done over the weekend, with full patches coming Monday.
The potholes may be costing you the city money, but they are bringing it in big for some Montreal garages. One mechanic at Pneus Gordon's in N.D.G. told CTV Montreal there has been nearly double the number of tires repairs compared to the same time period in 2016. Some of the more common problems coming in are blown out tires, bent rims and damaged suspensions.
So far this winter we've seen almost as many days with temperatures above freezing as we have seen below, and with another week off day time highs on the plus side and overnight lows dropping, the up-and-down on the thermometer will only make our streets resemble Swiss cheese that much more.
