If you're tired of hearing loud construction in your neighbourhood there's good news — the majority of Quebec's construction workers will be off for the next two weeks.
80 per cent of all construction workers will be out, with exceptions for 35,000 who work in Quebec's civil engineering sector and in road repair. Because of differing collective agreements, those workers will vacation in other times of the summer, like the 550 steelworkers working on the Champlain Bridge who will get their two week break at the beginning of August instead.
With some boycotting travel to the United States over Donald Trump's presidency, one construction worker told CJAD 800 he's also joining in and spending time in Toronto's destinations instead.
"I'll be going to the CN Tower, a couple of baseball games, Niagara Falls, and the beach," he said, while taking a break by the site of CBC Montreal's new headquarters.
But others are looking for more adventure, like construction worker Jahn Marco who said he'll be going to Cancun, Mexico instead of going to the chalet like his other colleagues.
"There's just a lot to do over there, Cancun is good party destination," Marco said. "I'll go snorkeling and just take it easy."
