The Montreal political party named after defeated mayor Denis Coderre has an interim leader.
Lionel Perez, one of the 25 Equipe Coderre candidates to hold onto their seats, said the party's name will be changed, but it's not yet known to what.
He did say a neutral name will be chosen.
He told the Aaron Rand show Coderre's loss hit like a ton of bricks at first, but that the party then looked ahead.
"We understand that the population wanted a change. We still got over 45 per cent of the vote... so, we understand also that they will want us to act professionally, they want us to act as an opposition. They want to ensure that the administration is kept to its promises and that's what we're gonna do", said Perez.
Perez, who was executive committee member responsible for infrastructure in the Coderre administration, admitted the party had a very solid track record, but the mistake it made was it thought that record was enough to ensure another election victory.
Denis Coderre, who was mayor of Montreal for four years, said on election night he was quitting politics following his mayoral loss.
Perez, who's been a councillor in CDN-NDG in 2009, was chosen borough mayor in 2012 when Michael Applebaum became mayor of the city of Montreal.
