Quebec's bureau of independent investigations is looking into an early morning police operation that ended with one man dead and another in custody.
At about 12:30 A.M. a box truck was involved in an incident in Pointe-Aux-Trembles. No one was hurt.
Nearby officers started a pursuit, but called it off once they realized the driver was not stopping, a standard policy for the SPVM.
The same vehicle was later spotted on Marie-Victorin St. near Langelier in Montreal-North.
For an unknown reason, at that moment the passenger in the truck decided to jump from the vehicle before the driver took off again.
In doing so, he was crushed to death by the truck.
The driver was arrested after being caught on Highway 25 near the 640 in Terrebonne.
The Montreal police department would not comment on the case.
