The Open Door center for homeless people is moving, but businesses in the Plateau, where it's moving to, aren't exactly rolling out the welcome mat.
A developer has bought the church where the Open Door's been located for 30 years.
Plateau merchants spoke up at a borough council meeting this week saying the center will attract more homeless people to the area and hurt business.
David Champman, who's been looking for a new place, told CTV it's been a challenge.
"The notion of not in my backyard is, unfortunately, is something I'm very familiar with 'cause it's been my experience of the last year and a half as Ive asked building owner after building owner", said Chapman.
The Open Door is moving to Notre Dame de la Salette church on Parc Avenue.
