Some Quebec police departments are launching roadside holiday checks as of Thursday night.
They're checking for impaired driving.
Laval's Chomedey district is first, but most sites won't be announced beforehand.
"They're stopping drivers, they're asking them a few questions, assessing whether they're under the influence of anything, and either letting them go or taking them in for a few further questions. Now, they say during the holiday period they make 20 arrests per day for impaired driving", said CTV Kelly Greig.
If you're suspected of impaired driving, you'll have your vehicle seized for a month.
If a judge finds you guilty, the vehilce will be confiscated for a year.
