A 36 year old man is in hospital after he was found lying in a downtown Montreal street Sunday morning with apparent gunshot wounds.
Police received a 9-1-1 call at around 3:15 indicating shots had been fired near the corner of St-Antoine and Mansfield.
Officers arrived to find the victim conscious with wounds to his upper body. He was taken to hospital, but his condition is not yet known.
Montreal Police spokesman Manuel Couture says they believe a fight between the victim and another man began inside a building at the intersection before moving outside, and it was there the shots are believed to have been fired.
Forensic experts and the police canine unit are assisting in the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made.
