The Montreal police department is asking for your help in tracking down a suspect involved in a recent string of frauds across the island.
Investigators said the man would greet victims inside or outside of large furniture, electronics or food stores and pretend to be a salesperson.
He would then take his victims through the store while describing an ongoing sale featuring heavily discounted items. Police said he would even interact with actual employees to keep up the appearance of working there.
The suspect would then close a sale, asking to be paid in cash, and then tell the unsuspecting victim to bring their car around to the back of the store to pick up their purchase. While they drive around the suspect takes off with the cash.
The man usually asks for $260 to $980 per item, and has defrauded victims out of more than $5,000.
Police say the suspect is a white man, about five feet five inches tall, is about 35-years-old, has brown hair, brown eyes, a thick beard and speaks French with a Spanish accent.
