A tip from Hydro Quebec led to the discovery of a marijuana grow-op in a cottage in the Laurentians, and now the owner may have to forfeit the quarter-million dollar property.
The 55-year old woman is charged with cannabis production for trafficking, the Journal de Montreal reports.
A Hydro inspector had alerted police after discovering illicit hook-ups to the cottage in Chute Saint Philippe were stealing electricity from the grid.
The Crown is arguing that the property should be seized, as it served as an instrument of crime.
This is the second time that the woman has been charged with drug offences. After a grow-up was found in the basement of her home in Saint Jerome in 2012, she was sentenced to 90 days in jail and some community service.
