The Quebec Finance Minister isn't all that impressed with Jean-Francois Lisee's idea to adopt a "Buy Québécois Act" — calling it a "monumental error."
Carlos Leitao told reporters today that it would be "counterproductive" and "aberrant" to "fight [American] protectionism by protectionism."
The Parti Quebecois leader proposed the notion of buy local legislation as a possibility were Lisee and the party to win next provincial election
Leitao went further, deploring what he called the "aggressive and contentious" approach of the PQ leader towards the new Trump administration in the US
He says the Quebec is trying to deepen its relations south of the border, not with the Trump admin persay but with the elected representatives and the companies of the big cities and American states that already trade heavily with Quebec.
