The mother of a young woman killed by a snow removal truck in Westmount in 2005 is backing an opposition motion that such vehicles be equipped with safety devices, including side guards.
21-year old Jessica Holman-Price died while saving her brother from an approaching truck.
Her mother, Jeannette Holman-Price, has been campaigning tirelessly for the installation of the devices.
She's now backing the motion by Projet Montreal, which will be tabled at Monday`s Montreal city council meeting.
"She and I both have exactly the same ideas and we both want to see it happen and we need to see it now. It's too late, enough, enough, enough Montrealers killed. It's time to act, the time to act is now", said Holman-Price in an interview with CJAD 800 News.
She added side guards cost "far less" than one per cent of the price of any vehicle they`re installed on.
A 2010 report by the coroner's office recommended the devices, which Westmount has reportedly adopted.
As well, Holman-Price is taking legal action against Quebec's automobile insurance board.
She says she's suing for 8-million dollars citing lost earnings and assets following the tragedy.
