It's obviously bone-chilling cold these days for humans, and it's no different for pets that go outside.
Experts say if dogs and cats are out for too long, they're at risk of hypothermia and frostbite.
Veterinarian Dr. Karen Goldenberg told CTV keep cats inside, if you can, and limit your's dog's outside exposure.
"I say decrease by at least 50 per cent; if you're used to taking an hour walk, maximum 30 minutes", said Goldenberg.
Among other things, protect dogs' paws from ice and salt.
Goldenberg added one way to keep dogs’ paws clean and healthy is to use your fingers or a towel and run it between their toes to remove ice and salt.
The deep freeze is expected to continue until at least the weekend.
