Quebec's provincial government is showing support to Francophones living in Ontario.
A motion was unanimously passed on Friday in Quebec's National Assembly to fly the Franco-Ontarian flag in support of those affected by cuts to Ontario's French services.
In the motion, they denounced “this new attack on the rights of the francophone community that is in a minority position in Canada.”
Fourty demonstrations will be held across Ontario to denounce cuts to French services that the Ford government announced.
The main protest will take place in Ottawa.
Canada's Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie Minister Melanie Joly, called for as many people as possible to attend the demonstrations.
She says it is important to keep pressure on Ontario's provincial government, "the more the citizens are in solidarity, the more it is possible to" make things happen."
Several Quebec politicians, including the leader of the official opposition, Pierre Arcand, and Papineau MP Mathieu Lacombe will participate in the Ottawa demonstrations on Saturday.
