The Quebec government is asking the feds to postpone its marijuana legalization plans by another year.
The province's public health minister, Lucie Charlebois, once again says Ottawa's plans to legalize pot by July 1, 2018 is forcing the provinces to move too fast.
The federal legalization bill, introduced in April, hands most of the responsibility of setting the ground rules for legalized pot to the provinces, including how it will be sold, and setting policies on policing and public education, among other things.
Charlebois also suggests the question of whether federal or provincial governments will fund legalization measures has not yet been settled.
The provincial government will introduce its pot legalization bill on Thursday. Among other things, the bill would create the Société Québécoise du Cannabis, a new agency that would regulate the sale of marijuana in the province.
