The owner of Restaurant Nouveau Verdun, which has stood for over 50 years, has been ordered to pay $150,665 for tax evasion and to serve 30 days behind bars.
Dionisios Gianniotis pleaded guilty last year to knowingly failing to collect and remit taxes and also using a computer program to generate nearly 125,000 fake invoices over about 20 months from the summer of 2012 until March 2014.
That month, Revenu Quebec raided the restaurant, and filed 170 charges against both the restaurant and Gianniotis.
