A retired Quebecer says he's no hero.
Journal de Montreal reports 63-year old Michel Mathieu didn't hesitate to save two women who were drowning at a beach in Junquillal, Costa Rica last month.
Mathieu, who had to overcome strong waves using a small floating board, is quoted as saying he had to do something or he'd regret it, adding he was qualified to carry out the rescue.
Mathieu was a longtime gym teacher and an underwater diving instructor at Cegep Edouard-Montpetit in Longueuil.
The incident happened on December 28th when Mathieu was approached by a crying man pointing to the two women in distress.
