The interim head of Coalition Montreal wants the city to have a plan for what he feels will be a wave of opioid-related overdoses in the not too distant future.
Marvin Rotrand the long time Snowdon city councillor plans to issue a call at the city council meeting tonight to have the Coderre Administration form a working group that will create a plan to deal with the burgeoning fentanyl crisis that has swept North America.
Rotrand tells La Presse that it is only a matter of time before the drug is seen on the streets of Montreal and he says city officials should be proactive to save lives.
Rotrand also wants the city to support the Liberal government's proposed legislation (Bill C37) that would allow creation of supervised injection sites to help reduce the number of drug overdoses in Canadian cities.
